With proper care (maintenance), Persian rugs can retain their beauty and value for decades.
Persian carpets are luxury items, with some costing over 1 million yen. For daily care, regularly remove dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile. Direct sunlight can cause fading, so be careful about where you lay the carpet.
If you spill juice or coffee, immediately dab it lightly with a dry cloth to absorb the moisture. If your pet makes an accident, we recommend that you first remove the moisture with a dry cloth and consult a professional as soon as possible. Moisture is also a big enemy of carpets. If it gets wet, dry it thoroughly in the shade to prevent mold and odors.
You can extend the life of your carpet by having it professionally cleaned every 5 to 10 years.
Dirt, stains and odors can be almost entirely removed by professional cleaning, and the carpet's original beauty can often be restored. Moth holes and partial fraying can be repaired, but damage such as loose pile that exposes the bare skin will require reweaving, which tends to be expensive. Depending on the price of the carpet, it may be more economical to consider replacing it rather than repairing it.
