This is a handwoven rug made in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan.
The design features a chic impression created by weaving patterns in gray and white against a black base color.
The central pattern is known as the Bokhara design, inspired by elephant footprints and the blooming of flowers. The weaving technique varies depending on the region and materials, but the main characteristic of handwoven rugs is the method of tying the weft threads to the warp threads.
This rug has been custom ordered to be approximately twice the thickness of a standard Pakistani rug, resulting in a soft texture that is fluffy like a Gabbeh, making it a delight to touch.
