A hand-woven carpet from Afghanistan.
In the center, octagonal motifs called "gyul patterns" are lined up vertically, giving the piece a traditional and powerful impression.
The gür, with its four cross-shaped sections, is a standard design widely seen among Turkmen tribes. The word gür, which originates from the word meaning "flower," was brought to Afghanistan by Turkmen weavers who settled in northern and western Afghanistan from Central Asia in the 18th and 19th centuries, and has been passed down to the present day.
Its narrow dimensions of 79 x 198 cm make it ideal for adding an accent to a hallway or living room.
