Persian Gabbeh Fine approx. 80cm x 123cm

Sold Out
Product name Persian Gabbeh Fine Quality
material wool
size Approximately 80cm x 123cm
Production area Persia Shiraz
Item Number 47909

Hand-woven Persian Gabbehs from the Shiraz region of Persia. This fine quality Gabbeh is made from the finest wool and has a denser and finer weave than regular Gabbehs.

The design is delicately woven with thin strokes like a line drawing. The frame and plant pattern are an exquisite mix of emerald green and turquoise blue.

Hand-woven carpets have a grain and a counter-grain, and the way the pile flows changes how the color appears depending on the direction in which it is laid, so please compare photos 6 and 7.

Each pattern woven into a Gabbeh carpet has a meaning, and the Tree of Life woven into this carpet represents wishes for longevity and good health for the family, as it stretches toward the sky.

[Characteristics of Persian Gabbeh Rugs]

Persian Gabbeh rugs are traditional carpets handwoven by nomadic tribes in southwestern Iran. Known for their thick, fluffy texture—resembling the feel of stroking a sheep—they are made from high-quality wool. These rugs are soft, cushioned, and offer excellent comfort year-round: warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

[What is Kashkuli?]

Kashkuli refers to the highest quality Persian Gabbeh rugs, woven by the most skilled artisans among the Qashqai tribe. Known for their exceptionally high knot density, Kashkuli rugs feature intricate patterns and fine details that set them apart from standard Gabbeh rugs.

[Meaning Behind the Patterns]

Squares – Represent “windows,” symbolizing a wish for happiness to enter the home.

Deer and Goats (Sheep) – These animals are vital to the nomadic way of life and are considered symbols of wealth, expressing the hope for a life free of hardship.

Tree of Life – With its branches reaching toward the sky, it embodies prayers for longevity, health, and the well-being of one’s family.

Camel – As a carrier of household goods in nomadic life, the camel symbolizes “success” and the hope for prosperity in new lands.

Pomegranate – A beloved fruit in Persian culture, the pomegranate, with its many seeds, represents fertility, abundance, and the flourishing of future generations.
