This is a Baljasta Kilim handwoven in Afghanistan.
The weaving is characterized by three-dimensional embroidery-like motifs that emerge from a flat-woven kilim.
The off-white part is a flat-woven kilim with no pile, while the patterned part is made of thick carpet weave.
Combining a kilim and a carpet into a single piece requires advanced techniques, and the texture can only be achieved by the handiwork of an artisan.
