A Persian carpet from Sarouk.
The garden features a medallion of flowers in the center, four deer and small birds, and birds perched on flowering trees. Waterfowl are arranged on the border, and the overall composition evokes a landscape rich in nature.
In carpet history, Sarouk carpets are often positioned as an intermediate between tribal rugs (of nomadic origin) and urban workshop rugs (royal art).
Geographically, the region is bordered by areas with a strong urban workshop tradition, such as Tehran and Kashan, to the northeast, and by production areas with a stronger, more tribal style, such as Hamadan and Bijar, to the west.
The most famous Sarouk design is the large bouquet. Garden designs like this one, featuring trees, small birds, and waterfowl, are rare among the Sarouk designs, with only a small number of them produced.
This carpet combines the symmetrical composition and medallion expression seen in urban workshops with the naturalism of animals and birds characteristic of tribal carpets, and is a perfect example of the unique character of Sarouk carpets, which are "somewhere between urban and tribal."

- To maintain its color and luster, lightly wipe it in the direction of the fur with a tightly wrung towel once a year.
