This handwoven Persian Gabbeh is crafted in the Shiraz region of Iran. Gabbeh refers to the handwoven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe.
This particular Gabbeh features a lion motif, with a finely woven texture that feels dense and rich.
While it appears as a deep, dark red in the photos, the actual base color is a blend of vermilion and burgundy. The lion's body is woven in a muted golden yellow.
The design depicts a lion holding a sword, with the sun peeking out from behind. This design was previously used on the national flag of Iran.
