This is a hand-woven carpet made in Afghanistan.
The ecru part in the center is a flat-woven kilim with a smooth texture and no pile, while the rest of the area is pile with a long pile and is soft to the touch.
Combining a kilim and a carpet into a single piece requires advanced techniques, and the texture can only be achieved by the handiwork of an artisan.
This is a beautiful piece, carefully crafted down to the smallest detail.
