This is a handwoven silk rug made in the Kashmir region, near the border of northern India and northeastern Pakistan.
Unlike the vibrant Persian silk rugs, Kashmir rugs have an overall yellowish tone, exuding a warm and calm vintage atmosphere.
They are characterized by the elegant sheen and smooth texture unique to silk.
There are various weaving techniques depending on the place of origin and materials used, but in handwoven rugs, the technique of tying the warp and weft threads together is considered a common feature.
