This is a hand-woven silk carpet made in the Kashmir region, near the border between northern India and northeastern Pakistan.
Unlike Persian silk rugs with their vibrant colours, Kashmiri rugs have an overall yellowish tone that gives them a warm, muted and vintage feel.
It features silk's unique elegant luster and smooth feel.
There are various weaving techniques depending on the region and the materials used, but a common feature of hand-woven carpets is the technique of binding the warp and weft threads together.

Regular vacuuming is all you need to keep your rug in good condition. Be sure to vacuum gently in the direction of the pile, avoiding the fringes. If you spill any liquid, blot it immediately with a dry cloth to absorb the moisture. Once a year, lightly wipe the rug with a well-wrung towel, following the direction of the pile.
