This is a Mashwani Kilim, carefully handwoven in Afghanistan.
Intricate geometric patterns are intricately woven into every detail, making this a powerful and impressive piece.
The combination of the unique flat-woven kilim fabric (without pile) and the carpet-woven pile fabric (with pile) creates a unique texture with unevenness and three-dimensionality. (You can see it in the third to sixth photos.)
This carpet, which combines carpet weaving and kilim weaving, is more difficult to weave than a standard kilim and requires a higher level of craftsmanship.
It is soft to the touch and has a crumpled, vintage feel.
