This is a hand-woven silk Persian carpet woven in Qom , located about 100 km south of Tehran, the capital of Iran.
The design is modeled after the pattern you would see when you enter a mosque and look up at the ceiling from below. The turquoise blue tile-like geometric pattern that spreads out from the center is impressive.
