This is a hand-woven silk Persian carpet woven in Qom , located about 100 km south of the Persian capital, Tehran.
The design of this carpet is based on the patterns that can be seen when looking up at the interior of the mosque, and features eye-catching turquoise tile-like geometric patterns radiating from the center.
Handwoven carpets have both "with the grain" and "against the grain," and the color intensity varies depending on the direction of the pile. This characteristic can be seen by comparing the third and fourth photos in particular.
