This is a hand-woven carpet woven in Afghanistan. It is made from Ghazni wool taken from sheep living in the Ghazni region, and is spun entirely by hand.
The borders vary in width, creating an eye-catching design.
It is mainly dyed with plant dyes , and the uneven color (abrash) that is unique to plant-dyed wool gives it an attractive finish. *Abrash refers to the natural gradation that occurs when natural dyes such as madder and indigo are added to the color of undyed wool.
