This is a handwoven Persian rug made of silk, crafted in Qom, located about 100 kilometers south of the Iranian capital, Tehran.
The design is inspired by the patterns seen when looking up at the ceiling from inside a mosque. The geometric patterns resembling turquoise blue tiles radiate impressively from the center.
Due to the direction of the pile in handwoven rugs, the appearance of color can change depending on the laying direction. Please take a look at photos 3 and 4 for a clearer understanding.
This piece has been beautifully finished with the luster unique to silk, resulting in a smooth and soft texture.
