This is a handwoven silk Persian rug made in Qom, located about 100 kilometers south of the Iranian capital, Tehran.
Woven at the Jeddah Workshop.
The framework features a gentle and soft cream green color. The central medallion pattern is adorned with flowers in soft hues of pink, purple, and blue, layered beautifully.
Surrounding the medallion is a carpet reminiscent of spring, filled with climbing vines and small flowers.
The white area between the carpet and the fringe is woven in plain silk, and this particular piece features lion patterns even in the plain woven section, showcasing meticulous attention to detail.
Additionally, handwoven rugs have a directionality in the pile, known as 'up' and 'down', which affects how the colors appear depending on the laying direction. Please compare photos 6 and 7 to see the difference in color intensity.
