Pakistani Rug
The history of Pakistani rugs dates back thousands of years.
In the Indus Valley Civilization (about 5,000 years ago), textiles had already developed, and the use of floor coverings has been confirmed.
Northern Pakistan is deeply connected to Persia and developed under the influence of Greek and Buddhist civilizations.
Later, with the influence of Islam, rug production became established, particularly during the Mughal Empire when Lahore became the center of rug production.
Lahore has maintained its status since Emperor Akbar of the Mughal Empire invited artisans from Iran to begin rug production 500 years ago.
