This is a Moroccan rug “Beni Ourain” carefully woven by Berber women living in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
Beni Ourain is a traditional rug passed down through the Berber people. Its warmth, made from high-quality wool born to withstand harsh winters, and its simple yet refined design have been cherished in interior scenes around the world.
The geometric patterns depicted on the rug are symbols of the Berber culture, with diamonds representing “protection” and zigzag lines symbolizing “water” or “the journey of life,” each carrying its own meaning. These unique pieces express the thoughts of women who did not have written language through their textiles.
With a compact size of Approx. 62cm x 78cm, it is easy to incorporate into various spaces such as an entrance mat, bedside, under a chair, or as an accent in front of a sofa.
Its plain design allows it to blend seamlessly into a wide range of interiors, including Scandinavian, modern, natural, and bohemian styles.
