Pakistani Rug
The history of Pakistani rugs dates back thousands of years.
In the Indus civilization (around 5000 years ago), textiles had already developed, and the use of floor coverings has been confirmed.
Northern Pakistan has deep ties with Persia and developed under the influence of Greek and Buddhist civilizations.
Later, with the influence of Islam, rug production became established, particularly during the Mughal Empire when Lahore became the center of rug production.
Lahore has maintained its unchanged status since the great Mughal Emperor Akbar invited artisans from Iran to start rug production 500 years ago.
