Heriz rugs are handwoven carpets renowned for their strength and durability. Produced in the town of Heriz in northwestern Iran, these rugs are ideal for large spaces such as dining rooms and living rooms. Thanks to their robust construction, they are also well-suited for high-traffic public areas, where they can withstand heavy footfall over time.
The town of Heriz is located about 60 kilometers east of Tabriz, one of the historical centers of Persian carpet weaving. Given their geographic proximity, Heriz rugs have likely been influenced by the long-standing weaving traditions of Tabriz since production began in the early 19th century.
Heriz rugs are known for their bold geometric designs, often featuring a distinctive angular medallion that stretches across the field of the carpet. Traditional color schemes include rich reds and browns, along with accents of blue, yellow, and cream.
Made with high-quality wool pile tightly knotted onto cotton warp threads, Heriz rugs are among the heaviest and most hard-wearing of all Persian carpets. Their durable construction and striking visual style make them both practical and aesthetically enduring choices for interior spaces.
