Kurdish-made carpets are known for their durability and resilience, making them ideal for everyday use. Among them, Senneh rugs—handwoven by Kurds in and around the city of Senneh (modern-day Sanandaj) in Iran’s Kurdistan Province—stand out for their refined and elegant designs, earning high praise in Western markets.
Senneh rugs typically feature classic motifs, most notably the Herati (fish) pattern and the boteh (paisley) motif. Deep blues and rich reds dominate the color palette, though other hues may be incorporated as well. The pile is woven with fine, high-quality wool yarn, while the warp and weft are made of cotton. This combination lends Senneh rugs both flexibility and exceptional durability.
