The rugs made by the Kurds are sturdy, durable, and suitable for everyday use. In particular, the Senneh rugs handwoven by the Kurds around Senneh (now Sanandaj) in Iran are characterized by their delicate and elegant designs, earning high praise in Europe and America.
The patterns of Senneh rugs are primarily classic designs, with the Herati pattern (fish motif) and boteh pattern (paisley motif) being particularly common. The color palette mainly features deep blues and reds, although other hues may also be incorporated. The pile of the rug is made from high-quality fine wool yarn, while cotton is used for the warp and weft, contributing to the flexibility and durability of the Senneh rug.
