This silk handwoven Persian rug is crafted in Qom, located about 100 kilometers south of Tehran, the capital of Iran.
Woven at the Keramatiyan Workshop, the rug features the workshop's name along with the rug number woven into the upper center.
This rug is distinguished by its exceptionally soft and smooth texture, making it one of the finest silk handwoven rugs.
The base color is a deep navy blue, and the arch design of the outer frame is a rare find not commonly seen in other rugs.
As can be seen in the overall photo, the right side of the center has been intentionally woven without the accent color of turquoise blue, instead using only navy and gold to create a beautifully aged, antique-like appearance. The fringe is woven in an off-white color rather than pure white.
Additionally, handwoven rugs have a directionality in the pile, known as 'nap,' which affects how the colors appear depending on the laying direction. Please compare photos 2 and 3 to see this effect.
