Ghazni Province

Ghazni, formerly known as Ghazna, is a city in eastern Afghanistan, located on the Ghazni River on a plateau at an altitude of 2,225 metres.

There are remains of fortresses built in the 13th century and ancient Ghazna ruins. It has existed since the 7th century and flourished as the capital of Afghanistan's first Islamic dynasty, the Ghaznavid Empire, in the 11th century, but was fought over by various forces many times. It is currently developing as the commercial and industrial center of Afghanistan, with a population of approximately 69,000 in 2020.
