The Baghai Workshop was established in 1911 by Mohammad Reza Baghai Lavari in the cities of Ravar and Kobanān in Kerman Province, Iran. At that time, Kerman rugs were known for their beautiful designs and high quality, but Mohammad Reza aimed for further development by introducing new techniques and designs while preserving tradition.
After Mohammad Reza's death, his son Arijān took over the workshop and continued to operate in accordance with his father's wishes. Arijān dedicated himself to maintaining the manufacturing techniques and designs of traditional Kerman rugs, and due to his efforts, the Baghai Workshop has developed steadily. It continues to produce high-quality rugs to this day.
After Arijān, his children and grandchildren have been involved in the operation of the workshop, continuing to uphold the traditions of the Baghai Workshop. The descendants of the Baghai family have established multiple workshops in cities such as Ravar and Zarand in Kerman Province to maintain the manufacturing techniques and quality of Kerman rugs. Many female weavers work in these workshops, contributing to the development of the local economy and culture.
The Baghai Workshop specializes in rug manufacturing using traditional hand-weaving techniques and natural materials, featuring beautiful designs such as medallions, floral motifs, and Golfarān (rose patterns). Quality control experts supervise the manufacturing process to ensure high-quality products. Additionally, rugs are produced with consideration for the environment through the use of natural dyes.
The rugs of the Baghai Workshop are highly regarded both domestically and internationally, particularly with active exports to the United States and Europe. This not only spreads the tradition of Kerman rugs worldwide but also significantly contributes to the development of the local economy.
Thanks to the vision of founder Mohammad Reza Baghai Lavari and the subsequent efforts of his family, the Baghai Workshop has upheld the tradition of Kerman rugs for over 100 years. Even today, its beautiful designs and high quality continue to be loved around the world.
