History of Habibian Workshop

Habibian Workshop was founded by Fathra Habibian, known as the "Father of Nain Carpets." Born in Nain in 1903, Fathra trained at his father's traditional Iranian woolen cloak workshop. He later developed carpet manufacturing techniques in Nain and spread high-quality Nain carpets around the world.

Fatra's brother, Mohammed Habibian, also joined in running the workshop. With their cooperation, the workshop grew and produced carpets of outstanding quality. Their efforts paid off, and Habibian Workshop became the premier manufacturer of Nain carpets.

After the deaths of Fatra and Mohammed, the workshop was taken over by Fatra's grandson, Ali Habibian. The family traditions and techniques have been passed down uninterrupted, and the reputation of the Habibian workshop remains strong to this day.

Characteristics of Habibian Atelier carpets

Habibian carpets are characterised by their intricate designs and exquisite weaving techniques. These carpets are made with the finest wool and silk using Persian knotting and are characterised by their sophisticated designs and colour combinations.

Nain carpets are usually woven using high-quality cork wool and silk pile, which allows the designs to be displayed clearly. Another feature is that the dyes used are of high quality, and the colors of the carpets are maintained for a long time. The colors are mostly elegant shades based on pale cream, which are very easy to match with Japanese homes, making them very popular in Japan.
