Hagighi Workshop

The Hagighi Atelier is a renowned carpet-making workshop in Isfahan, Iran, with a tradition of carpet-making spanning over 110 years. The workshop was founded by Master Mehdi Khan Safdarzadeh Hagighi and is now continued by his descendants.

Mehdi Khan Safdarzadeh Hagighi established his own workshop at a young age and showed great talent in designing and crafting Persian carpets. His son, Haji Yadullah Khan Safdarzadeh Hagighi, also followed in his father's footsteps and produced many original works. Yadullah Khan's works are in the collections of famous museums in Iran and abroad.

Haji Feizulla Khan Hagighi, the grandson of Mehdi Khan, was born in Isfahan on March 16, 1943. After studying at the Isfahan School of Fine Arts, he created new designs that combined tradition and modernity, and had a significant impact on the Iranian carpet industry. His designs, which incorporate miniature painting techniques, are widely recognized as the "Hagighi style," and the majority of the works currently referred to as "Hagighi carpets" are his work.

Feizullah Khan's son, Mohammad Mehdi Safdarzadeh Hagighi, also continues the family tradition of carpet design and production. He studied both architecture and carpet design, and is using his knowledge to break new ground. Another son, Amirhossein Safdarzadeh Hagighi, creates works that symbolize the decline of traditional Iranian art, but also express hope for the cultural revival.

Hagighi Atelier offers products that combine traditional Persian carpet style with subtle contemporary designs, using silk, wool and cotton as materials. Their carpets are also characterized by traditional dyeing techniques using natural dyes. Their carpets are highly regarded both in Iran and abroad, and have won numerous awards.

Hagighi carpets are characterized by their harmony of colors, rich color variations, and unique designs. They offer a wide variety of designs, including Isfahan style, medallion, Islami, Shah Abbasi, garden, and iconography. These carpets are known for their intricate handcrafting techniques, and their quality is highly regarded around the world.

Hagighi Workshop values family ties and tradition, and continues to carefully preserve the techniques and artistry of carpet making that have been handed down from generation to generation.
