Persian Gabbeh Kashkuri approx. 62cm x 94cm

Sold Out
Product name Persian Gabbeh
material wool
size Approximately 62cm x 94cm (excluding fringe)
Production area Iran Shiraz
Item Number 51231

This is a hand-woven Persian gabbeh from the Shiraz region of Iran. It is a fine quality gabbeh, made from the finest wool and with a dense and fine weave.

The base color is a gradation of gray, made from undyed natural wool. Looking out the large window, you can see a blue sky reminiscent of the dawn, a pointillist-like large mountain, and a yellow sun peeking out from the side.

In the center is a large tree with green leaves and red fruit, and it is surrounded by flowers, plants, and deer.

The deer represent family harmony as they raise their young closely, and the Tree of Life represents wishes for longevity and good health for the family as it reaches up to the sky.

[Characteristics of Persian Gabbeh Rugs]

Persian Gabbeh rugs are traditional carpets handwoven by nomadic tribes in southwestern Iran. Known for their thick, fluffy texture—resembling the feel of stroking a sheep—they are made from high-quality wool. These rugs are soft, cushioned, and offer excellent comfort year-round: warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

[What is Kashkuli?]

Kashkuli refers to the highest quality Persian Gabbeh rugs, woven by the most skilled artisans among the Qashqai tribe. Known for their exceptionally high knot density, Kashkuli rugs feature intricate patterns and fine details that set them apart from standard Gabbeh rugs.

[Meaning Behind the Patterns]

Squares – Represent “windows,” symbolizing a wish for happiness to enter the home.

Deer and Goats (Sheep) – These animals are vital to the nomadic way of life and are considered symbols of wealth, expressing the hope for a life free of hardship.

Tree of Life – With its branches reaching toward the sky, it embodies prayers for longevity, health, and the well-being of one’s family.

Camel – As a carrier of household goods in nomadic life, the camel symbolizes “success” and the hope for prosperity in new lands.

Pomegranate – A beloved fruit in Persian culture, the pomegranate, with its many seeds, represents fertility, abundance, and the flourishing of future generations.

[Care Instructions]

Regular vacuuming is all you need to keep your rug in good condition. Be sure to vacuum gently in the direction of the pile, avoiding the fringes. If you spill any liquid, blot it immediately with a dry cloth to absorb the moisture. Once a year, lightly wipe the rug with a well-wrung towel, following the direction of the pile.
