This is a Persian rug from Sarouk.
At the center, a medallion formed by flowers blooms, surrounded by a garden scene featuring four deer and small birds perched on flowering trees. The border is adorned with waterfowl, creating a composition that evokes a rich natural landscape.
In the history of rugs, Sarouk rugs are often positioned as an intermediate between tribal rugs (of nomadic origin) and urban workshop rugs (court art).
Geographically, to the northeast are regions rooted in the traditions of urban workshops such as Tehran and Kashan, while to the west are areas like Hamadan and Bijar, known for their more robust tribal styles.
