Plant dyeing

Plant dyeing is the use of natural dyes to color textiles, especially those derived from plants or insects. This is a different method to dyeing with artificial dyes. Dyes from insects such as cochineal may also be used. Commonly dyed textiles include cotton, wool, and silk, and prior protein penetration is often used, especially when dyeing textiles of plant origin.
