Gabbeh carpets are handmade by the nomads of the Qashqai tribe living in Fars Province in southwestern Iran, and are one of the most famous hand-woven carpets in Iran. The name Gabbeh means "rough" or "natural" in Persian, and the designs are simple with few decorative elements and feature animal and plant motifs inspired by the daily life of nomads.

The carpets are made from hand-spun wool and dyed with natural dyes derived from plants and minerals. Gabbeh carpets are thicker than other Persian carpets, up to 2.5 cm thick. In recent years, the number of colorful and intricately patterned Gabbeh carpets has increased.

Gabbeh carpets are given various names according to the pile height and knot density, such as Basic, Amarebakht, Kashkuri, Luribakht, etc. Kashkuri in particular is characterized by its high knot density and short pile.
